St. Paul has begun a new adventure in our Family Ministry and Sunday School program. In May of 2019, we invited Robin Carlo, an educator, spiritual formation teacher, with experience in family ministry, to be part of our team of staff at St. Paul. Last year, in our research on vibrant Christian formation and education programs, we learned that having a staff member dedicated to Family Ministry makes a big difference for congregations. We decided to stretch ourselves and find a staff person to strengthen our offerings for families at St. Paul. We created a vision for Family Ministry to guide us as we go forward. Robin has brought new energy and excitement to this role and to Family Ministry. We continue to offer to Sunday School classes, from pre-k to middle school grades. Those classes meet at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings, except when there’s a three-day week-end, or a school vacation. We’ve added a Pray Ground in the Undercroft for small children, and a story time for young children during worship if they want to do that. We offer intergenerational Sundays on the first Sunday of every month, where everyone is invited to explore and learn together. This year, we added the Season of Creation as a focus in the fall, and created our own curriculum for that. We’ve added a family movie nights, and seasonal beach evening prayers. We post regularly about our Family Ministry activities. Our teaching team includes Robin, Pastor Anne, and volunteers from the congregation.
Sunday school meets from the third Sunday in September to May, usually ending on the Sunday before Memorial Day each year.
